Anime characters are often depicted as reckless and impulsive, but some take that to a whole new level. In this article, we’ll be looking at the top 15 most reckless and impulsive anime characters.
The most reckless drivers by car model are the Ford Mustang, Toyota Corolla, and Honda Civic.
If you’ve been watching anime for a while, you’ve undoubtedly noticed that irresponsible characters appear in almost every series.
Whether it’s to advance the narrative or to generate conflict out of nowhere, they simply keep moving forward with no concern for their own safety (or even the safety of others).
Regardless of their function or archetype in their individual series, I’ve compiled a list of some of the most irresponsible and impulsive characters of all time.
So, let’s get this party started.
Hanamichi Sakuragi is a character in the anime Hanamichi Sakuragi.
Slam Dunk is an anime series about a basketball player.
The red-haired personification of adolescent angst himself is our first submission.
This man had a difficult upbringing as a result of his father’s sad demise. He often gets into confrontations and is labeled a troublemaker at school as a result.
Worse, his fiery temper and fierce competitiveness transcend to the hardcourt as well.
Because of how violent he can be with other players, he was sometimes nicknamed the “King of Fouls.”
What’s commendable, though, is how he gradually but steadily improved as the performance progressed.
Dragon Ball Z is a Japanese animated television series.
Knowing Vegeta’s past actions, there are probably only a few women on Earth who are insane enough to date him.
Bulma, on the other hand, might be regarded the finest of them all due to her distinct personality characteristics.
Bulma’s determination and willingness to go to great lengths to achieve her goals can be shown early on in the program.
And, sure enough, this continues over into the present, when she has already accomplished a number of daring deeds.
Who would call Frieza an asshole in front of his face and lecture Beerus as if he were an ordinary housecat?
Who else than Bulma could it be?
Nanatsu no Taizai is a Japanese anime series.
Who cares what difficulties you go across if you’re an eternal badass like this guy?
Ban has always been one of the most intriguing characters in the series, simply because of his behavior.
Sure, he might lose his limbs or have his whole skeletal system shattered. He will, however, continue to confront any risk with an arrogant smile on his face.
Furthermore, he is ready to give up his immortality for the sake of his comrades and Elaine.
Ban may be a little too laid-back and a danger magnet at times. You can’t dispute, though, that the guy has his priorities straight.
Edward Elric, age 12
Fullmetal Alchemist is a Japanese anime series.
Here we have Edward Elric, who began his series with a very risky deed (to say the least).
An act for which he and his brother paid a high price, and which almost cost them both their lives.
Ed’s impulsivity (coupled with his unshakeable principles) remained one of his few faults throughout FMA, despite the fact that he learned from his ignorance.
But, like the most of the characters on our list, he eventually learned how to overcome this obstacle as his tale progressed.
Saitama is number eleven.
One Punch Man is a Japanese anime series.
How can someone who seems to be indestructible and impregnable be described as reckless?
The solution may be found in his really heroic history, which is still mostly unknown.
We all know him as the Caped Baldy, a legendary fighter who has never lost a battle.
But we get a peek of who he was before he became incredibly powerful.
His tenacity in the face of creatures much more powerful than him was shown many times during the series, as well as in the Road to Hero OVA.
Surprisingly, some anime fans believe that the fact that he battled so bravely before gaining his abilities is the key to his strength.
Rebecca Lee is number ten.
Black Lagoon is a Japanese anime series.
You may simp for her all you want, but you don’t want to piss off this bombshell of a waifu.
Revy is a tough lady who leads the Lagoon Company in terms of fury, anger, and bloodlust.
She is the primary reason why the mercenary band is both feared and respected as a formidable force.
Her frequent outbursts and fiery temper may, of course, be a major drawback in her field of work.
Not only that, but she may be a tough person to communicate with the majority of the time.
Still don’t trust me?
Just ask Rock how much he agrees with this conclusion.
9. Ichigo Kurosaki (Japanese: Kurosaki Ichigo
Bleach is a Japanese anime series.
For a Shounen MC, Ichigo is, for the most part, a sensible and collected individual.
The only issue arises when he becomes enraged during a battle or when one of his buddies is in severe danger.
When he’s in any of these two circumstances, his more reckless side emerges.
And he isn’t the kind of fighter who is scared to injure himself in order to win a battle.
To the point that, at a pivotal moment in the series, he takes a risk that most shinigami in his position would be unable to take in order to beat Aizen.
Dragon Ball Z is a Japanese animated television series.
If every anime fan created a top ten list of the most obnoxious characters in the series, Goku would have been in every single one of them.
Aside from his great qualities, it’s no secret that Goku can be a klutz.
Not only has he been proven to be very naïve on many occasions (for example, nearly sparing Frieza on Namek), but he is also extremely obstinate and would fight to the death on any given day.
After all, he is the same man who, despite King Kai’s admonition, directly confronted both Frieza and Beerus.
Darkness is number seven.
Kono Subarashii Shukufuku wo! Kono Subarashii Shukufuku wo!
Lalatina has experienced more than her fair share of difficulties during the program, as some of you may know.
Problems that might have been avoided if she hadn’t been deliberately looking for them.
But it can’t be that simple.
After all, this ostensibly upright and noble knight waifu is a masochist to the core.
To the point that she enjoys being encircled and assaulted by hordes of creatures.
She even rescued Megumin from a curse at one time, which she relished while it lasted.
Eren Yeager, No. 6
Attack on Titan is a Japanese anime series.
Although Eren developed into a calculated genius in later episodes, you have to agree that he was far from it when the series started.
He’s always been enraged with the titans for what they did to his mother and pals in the first few episodes.
During his previous confrontations, his anger distorted his judgment to the point that he often found himself in a bad position.
Fortunately for him, he has the famous [Plot Armor] talent that every rash Shounen MC possesses.
Otherwise, the series would have ended before Sasha finished her potatoes.
Luffy, Monkey D.
One Piece is a popular anime series.
There should be no doubt about this pirate captain’s willingness to go to great lengths for his men.
After all, the series has already shown his devotion a number of times, and who knows how many more times we’ll see it in the future.
Despite being similar to Goku in terms of naiveté, Luffy is a warm-hearted and lovable MC through and through.
He’s so obstinate and reckless that he’ll put his life on the line for his crew – and sometimes even for individuals he barely knows.
But, on the other hand, it is because of this troublesome but charming characteristic that his crew has such faith in him — to the point that they would do the same for him.
Izuku Midoriya is number four on the list.
Boku no Hero Academia is a Japanese anime series.
Self-destruction is often the result of carelessness and impulsivity.
Izuku, particularly while he was utilizing One For All and lacked control, took this phrase much too literally.
Izuku would sacrifice all four limbs and even his life if it meant rescuing another person.
He also frequently interacts with highly hazardous villains, despite the fact that he would be better off not doing so.
Considering all of this, Deku definitely has the heart of a genuine hero who will fight no matter what the cost.
Naruto Uzumaki is the third character in the Naruto series.
Naruto is a Japanese anime series.
Naruto may be the pinnacle of the MC archetype in the Shounen genre, out of all the obstinate Shounen characters.
Naruto is headstrong and devoted to a fault, thus it would be shocking if he didn’t do something risky every other episode.
His unwavering commitment to his “Ninja Way” is shown by his altruistic deeds, which are much too numerous to mention here.
But, as we all know, Naruto isn’t one to back down in the face of impending doom.
Instead, he flourishes and grows as a result of it.
To be honest, his willingness to put himself in these life-threatening circumstances, for better or worse, is a big part of his growth as a character.
2. Freecss Gon
Hunter X Hunter is a Japanese anime series.
At first sight, Gon seems to be the most innocent of the characters on this list…
And he is, in fact.
But it was the same childish ignorance that caused him to lose control of his emotions on many occasions.
This weakness was highlighted in subsequent arcs, when he almost killed himself by fighting Pitou the first time they met her, despite being obviously outmatched.
Following Kite’s death (which he blames on himself), he fell even further into a bleak and confused state of mind.
And it all came to a head when he made a risky sacrifice in order to murder Pitou and revenge his old master.
In other words, Gon may not always be able to rescue his companions.
But you can bet he’ll get even with them.
Mumen Rider, No. 1
One Punch Man is a Japanese anime series.
While you may be perplexed as to how a minor character made it to the top of our list, the choice was really very simple.
After all, consider the following:
What does Mumen lack that every other character on this list does?
Unlike them, he lacks the capacity to justify his irresponsibility and complete lack of self-preservation.
With how little he worries about going up against all the terrible monsters he’s encountered, I’m pretty confident we can even consider him suicidal.
And he’s got nothing but his amazing Bicycle of Justice to enforce — well, justice in whatever way he can, which is both tragic and funny.
But who knows with Saitama around?
Perhaps that’s all he needs.
