Insomniac Games has announced two upcoming Marvel games for the PlayStation 5. Spider-Man 2 will take place in a brand new story, while Wolverine will be set during his early years as a X-Men member.

Insomniac Games seems to be completely obsessed with Spider-Man. Insomniac unveiled a third Spider-Man game today, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, a genuine sequel to the 2018 blockbuster that is being created especially for Sony’s next-gen PS5 consoles, after the highly successful Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales games.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will see the famous web crawler join up with Miles Morales against one of their greatest and most beloved foes: Venom, according to a reveal video released by Insomniac during today’s PlayStation Showcase. Tony Todd, well known for his performances in films such as Candyman and The Rock, will voice the fan-favorite symbiote.
[…] Did you notice the last sentence in the trailer? We’re ecstatic to share the news that Tony Todd (of Candyman fame) will play the symbiote-fueled Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We’re also excited to see Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter return in their roles as Peter and Miles, respectively. In our Spider-Man games, we’ve had the good fortune of working with a lot of great performers, and Tony has been a fantastic addition to the ensemble.
In 2023, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be available only on PlayStation 5 platforms.
What’s more unexpected is that Insomniac Games announced not one, but two Marvel games today. Insomniac is also working on a game based on Wolverine, one of the most well-known X-Men and comic book characters of all time. Although Marvel’s Wolverine seems to be in its early stages of production, Insomniac has vowed that it would follow in the footsteps of its Spider-Man games as a faithful adaptation of the character.
Previous aim here, like with our Spider-Man games, is to respect the DNA of what makes the character so famous while simultaneously looking for ways to make it feel new and true to the Insomniac ethos. Despite the fact that Marvel’s Wolverine is still in production, everything I’ve seen of its emotive story and cutting-edge gameplay (see what I did there?) suggests that the team is already working on something really unique.
Marvel’s Wolverine is likewise being developed specifically for PlayStation 5 systems, but when it will be released is unknown in comparison to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
